Smoky Cheddar Bacon Pepper Poppers

Do you love Jalapenos? Bacon? Smoked Cheddar Cheese?
Then these slightly sweet Pepper Poppers are for you!!
The amount of heat is up to you. Whether you leave in the seeds or take them all out. If you keep them in you will want something cold to drink right after eating one, but in my opinion they are best with most of the seeds in. I like them spicy!
2/3 cup smoked cheddar cheese, shredded
3 Tablespoons Bacon Bits

¾ cup cream cheese, softened
2 teaspoons brown sugar
1 Tablespoon horseradish
½ teaspoon dried onion flakes
Freshly Cracked Black Pepper
12-15 Jalapenos, halved
bacon strips for wrapping
In a bowl combine the first 6 ingredients and mix well.
Slice peppers in half (wear gloves) and take out the seeds you don't want and discard.
Stuff the peppers with the cream cheese mixture and wrap with a piece of bacon. Secure with a toothpick. I trimmed a lot of the fat off of the bacon so it took about 1 piece for each pepper half.
Refrigerate until the cream cheese is hard again.
Brown Sugar Glaze:

1/3 cup brown sugar
1 Tablespoon (approximately) water
Worcestershire Sauce
liquid smoke flavoring
In a small bowl combine the glaze ingredients adding just enough water to make a medium syrup and just enough of the Worcestershire Sauce and liquid smoke to add flavor.
Grill until bacon is cooked and brush with the brown sugar glaze the last few minutes on the grill.
Are you enjoying the Fall weather? It has been gorgeous outside the last few days and I trimmed some Bittersweet Berries from along the edge of the woods tonight to add the Fall Décor outside. They bring back so many good memories from when I was a young(er) girl. :) Tomorrow I have plans to work outside doing some catching up in the landscaping and possibly planting a few bushes.
I'm playing nurse maid for my second son. A painful sprained ankle, sigh. Poor guy, everything like that seems to happen to him (or so he says). But he puts everything he's got into everything he does so I guess an injury can be expected now and then? He's hoping it lasts till soccer is over, that's what he was playing when it happened and it is his least favorite sport. Not sure about his way of thinking but we'll wait and see. :)

  1. Ice on the ankle...but you probably knew that. :) Seemed like if Taylor got an injury, it was an ankle!

Those poppers look SO good. And I have everything to make them. I'll have to wait until Taylor is home, though, because I'm the only one left here that would eat them. Yes...spicy is good! I'd leave most of the seeds in, too! ha.

    my mouth is watering...oh my....

  2. The poppers look very good. Never thought of using smoked cheddar. And you can never go wrong with anything that has bacon in it!

  3. Betsy sent me over for a cheesecake recipe...
They all look so delicious...Man...you are some cook, Martha!
    Those poppers are mouth-watering...
    Thanks for the recipes...
    I will visit again.....
