I happened to be standing in the kitchen when I glanced outside early one dewy morning to see the gossamer web of some hard working spider. Have you ever REALLY watched a spider do it's thing? I did. It's amazing! And very cool!
 
Speaking of early mornings, this morning before anyone else was stirring I heard someone quietly walking through the house. Then I heard the back door closing. Hmmm, who could that be? Turns out it was this one here...
 
 
...heading out for an early morning ride. She is really feeling the threat of less time with the pony after school begins on Tuesday. Or is it the horse themed books and movie she reads/watches that spurs her on? haha, you just never know. I do enjoy seeing her have a great time with her pony. She brushes and braids and grooms till he shines. :) She is also diligent with the tack. And if you look closely there's a red string in her hat. That's baler twine :) her own version of a "Stampede String" because her hat wasn't cool enough to have one of it's own. I was proud of her for improvising instead of whining for a new one. :)

And last but not least, 3 of the 4 softball players in the house. All of who had a great season and learned a lot about team playing and how good it feels to improve your game. I'm proud of you guys, you were fun to watch! :) 
 
Summer seems to have gone by at lightening speed and next week we begin the school schedule. Senior, Sophomore, Freshman, and 4th Grade. Indeed, where has TIME gone?! I do enjoy this stage of life that is much less about us doing everything for them and more about teaching them to be independent and about recognizing the potential of each one and guiding them in the right direction, teaching them to be comfortable and at peace with their differences, and most of all about just being a Christian example for them that is worth following. Experiencing their sense of humor and sometimes being the referee when that same sense of humor seems forgotten. :) None of these things is for the faint of heart, (although I feel faint at times, lol). It's all good and we love and enjoy where we're at.
 
We are looking forward to a family weekend and a nephew's wedding (Congrats to Bryan and Faith!).

    Don't you stand amazed when you see your kids taller than their father? :)

    I just love that picture of Serena and her pony. What a beautiful photo!

Creamy Finger Jello

I was asked to bring finger Jello to serve with a hot lunch us room Mom's were serving to Serena's classroom at school. Jello isn't something I typically serve,but I have about 2 or 3 recipes using Jello that I make about once in a blue moon. One reason I make this one is because it isn't a typical, plain finger Jello. But also because it looks like a two step process when it really isn't. Everything is mixed as one and it separates as it sets. And the cream adds a good flavor. 2 large boxes Jello 4 packages plain gelatin 4½ cups boiling water ¼ cup cold water 1 cup heavy cream Combine the Jello and gelatin and whisk together. Add the boiling water and whisk until Jello is dissolved. Add the remaining ingredients and stir. Pour into a lightly greased (this helps to remove from the pan in a cleaner cut, spray the pan then wipe it down with a paper towel) glass 9 X 13 pan. Cover and chill till firm. Cut into desired shapes or squares and serve.

Seasoned Pretzels

These pretzels have been around the block and back again, but they  really are  such an easy snack and they go well as an appetizer too. They are simple and require no baking which in my opinion is a definite plus! 18 ounces pretzel twists ½ cup olive oil 1 envelope original Hidden Valley Ranch Mix 1 teaspoon dill weed ½ teaspoon garlic powder Pour pretzels into a large bowl. In a smaller bowl combine oil and seasonings and mix well with a whisk. Pour over pretzels and toss to coat. Allow to rest at room temperature, stirring every now and then to coat again, until oil and seasonings are gone from the bottom over the bowl. Pretzels are ready to serve when they look dry again. Black Raspberry Vanilla Milkshake

PERFECT FOR A  WARM SUMMER DAY! I know another Black Raspberry recipe. I promise to start eating and thinking of other food/things soon but indulge me just a bit longer. I had some black raspberry juice in the fridge and in all my warm, humid berry pickings I would think of cool refreshing things to make with them and decided I need one of these. I was not disappointed! It's delicious!! 3-4 scoops Vanilla Ice Cream 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract 2-3 lg. serving tablespoons Seedless Raspberry Juice Milk, just enough to make it blendable Mash the berries and press through a sieve. Discard seeds. Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.                                                                     aaahhh, so yummy!! Be Blessed!
