Texas Sheet Cake with Peanut Butter and Chocolate Icing and A Day Out and About

This cake always comes through in a pinch. It's quick, moist and chocolaty, and pairs perfectly with some ice cream for an easy, sweet tooth satisfying dessert. I had some leftover icings in the fridge from some other goodies I had made and this cake provided the perfect opportunity to use them up. Peanut Butter and Chocolate. Why not?
 
1 cup butter
1 cup water
¼ cup cocoa powder
2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup sour cream
 
Combine the first three ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and set aside.
Combine the dry ingredients with a wire whisk. Add to the cocoa mixture and stir. Then add the sour cream and stir until smooth.
Bake in a non stick sprayed 10 x 15 inch pan for 20-25 minutes or until cake is done to your preference.
These are not the traditional icings that go with this cake but they worked and it was scrumptious!
 
                                                                                                           
 
I spent the day today on the truck with my husband (and even remembered my camera this time!☺) This is something we both enjoy occasionally. They have a few developments they deliver propane to that are a bit further away so I've been going along when he goes there. It was a bit chilly but a gorgeous, sunny day. I'll share a few pictures of the day with you.

I know Turkey Buzzards are not beautiful but if you think about the great service they do for humanity, saving us from all manner of harm and disease, they become a bit more tolerable. And I liked how he looked against the sky as he went gliding by.

 
 
 
 
Doing his thing. As big and clumsy as these trucks look, he is a pro at handling that thing. I don't think I'll be trading in my spatulas any time soon to drive his trucks.

    Scrumptious looking cake! And a great way to use up frosting. It looks pretty with this layers like that, too!

    I'm so glad you posted the other photos! How fun...cute, cute couple! :) And that sunset is like what we've been having...no editing needed...they are gorgeous just as is!

      I think that sunset was just for us. I just happened to see it, quickly took two pictures and walked inside and it faded soon after that.

    All the times I have made Texas Sheet Cake I have never thought to add icing. You took it to another level and it sounds and looks so good. I am heading to your peanut butter frosting post and look forward to making these for my family. I will let you know when I do :)

    Amen Martha! He does have a plan and we've learned, though experience that His plan is always good even when it doesn't make sense and seems to be just the opposite of how we think things should go. We had a time when I was praying so fervently for things to move in a certain way and it seemed the harder I prayed the worse things got. Now, looking back I see how He so totally answered my prayers in ways that I could never have conceived with my little pea brain.
    I love your TSC. I've been making this for a hundred years but I've never done it with a peanut butter icing! YUM!

I was asked to bring finger Jello to serve with a hot lunch us room Mom's were serving to Serena's classroom at school. Jello isn't something I typically serve,but I have about 2 or 3 recipes using Jello that I make about once in a blue moon. One reason I make this one is because it isn't a typical, plain finger Jello. But also because it looks like a two step process when it really isn't. Everything is mixed as one and it separates as it sets. And the cream adds a good flavor. 2 large boxes Jello 4 packages plain gelatin 4½ cups boiling water ¼ cup cold water 1 cup heavy cream Combine the Jello and gelatin and whisk together. Add the boiling water and whisk until Jello is dissolved. Add the remaining ingredients and stir. Pour into a lightly greased (this helps to remove from the pan in a cleaner cut, spray the pan then wipe it down with a paper towel) glass 9 X 13 pan. Cover and chill till firm. Cut into desired shapes or squares and serve.

Seasoned Pretzels

These pretzels have been around the block and back again, but they  really are  such an easy snack and they go well as an appetizer too. They are simple and require no baking which in my opinion is a definite plus! 18 ounces pretzel twists ½ cup olive oil 1 envelope original Hidden Valley Ranch Mix 1 teaspoon dill weed ½ teaspoon garlic powder Pour pretzels into a large bowl. In a smaller bowl combine oil and seasonings and mix well with a whisk. Pour over pretzels and toss to coat. Allow to rest at room temperature, stirring every now and then to coat again, until oil and seasonings are gone from the bottom over the bowl. Pretzels are ready to serve when they look dry again. Black Raspberry Vanilla Milkshake

PERFECT FOR A  WARM SUMMER DAY! I know another Black Raspberry recipe. I promise to start eating and thinking of other food/things soon but indulge me just a bit longer. I had some black raspberry juice in the fridge and in all my warm, humid berry pickings I would think of cool refreshing things to make with them and decided I need one of these. I was not disappointed! It's delicious!! 3-4 scoops Vanilla Ice Cream 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract 2-3 lg. serving tablespoons Seedless Raspberry Juice Milk, just enough to make it blendable Mash the berries and press through a sieve. Discard seeds. Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.                                                                     aaahhh, so yummy!! Be Blessed!
